GUWAHATI, Dec 18: The rain-truncated third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series at the GABBA in Brisbane ended in a draw with weather playing spoilsport on the fifth day as well.
India, resuming on their overnight score of 252/9, batted for just four overs today, adding eight more runs before Akash Deep was stumped by Carey of Travis Head’s bowling.
The hosts secured a 185-run first-innings lead and then made a dash for victory in their second innings before declaring at 89 for 7.
India, left with a target of 275 for victory in 54 overs, were 8/0 in 2.1 when rain and bad light forced early close of play.
Australian first innings centurion Travis Head was named Player of the Match.
The series is still tied 1-1 with the fourth test beginning at the MCG on Dec 26.
