Rain lashes Guwahati, streets go empty during lockdown

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been witnessing incessant rainfall over the past couple of days. The city streets have gone empty as the COVID-19 lockdown and rains coincide.

As part of the lockdown norms, vehicular movement has been restricted in Guwahati. Exemptions have been made in terms of emergency services only.

All the shops including grocery, vegetables, fish and meat have remained shut during lockdown. The 14-day lockdown started from Sunday midnight.

The re-imposition of lockdown was necessitated by the surge of COVID-19 cases in Guwahati, particularly with no travel history.

On Sunday, 195 COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Guwahati. Among them 120 patients have no travel history.
