In a massive relief for the BJP and the party’s Guwahati candidate Queen Oja, her nomination has been accepted amid reports and allegations that she had faked her educational qualification in her affidavit.
However, after the BJP leader filed a second affidavit following some “inadvertent errors” in her first declaration, her nomination was accepted paving the way for her to contest the April 23 polls from the prestigious Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency.
Incidentally, Queen Oja’s candidature had run into rough weather amid accusations that she had faked her educational qualification in her affidavit.
Oja had mentioned that she has completed her Higher Secondary from Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) in 2011. KKHSOU authorities, however, claimed they have never offered HS course, leading to accusations of Oja faking her educational qualification in her affidavit.
The BJP leader stated in her second affidavit that she has passed her matriculation from Pan Bazaar Girls’ High School in 1968 and then did a BPP course from KKHSOU in 2012.
Queen Oja, meanwhile, claimed the degree row over her candidature was a political conspiracy hatched by her opponents and that they are afraid of her popularity and imminent victory in the elections.
