BJP candidate for the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, Queen Oja, today (April 1) filed her nomination papers for the April 23 elections at the office of the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner who is also the returning officer.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, NEDA convener and Assam Finance, Health & PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, sitting Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Bijoya Chakraborty were present Oja when she filed her nomination for the hustings.
Earlier in the morning, hundreds and thousands of party activists took out a massive rally and accompanied Oja as she reached the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner’s office to file the nomination papers.
Queen Oja is pitted against Bobbeeta Sharma of the Congress.
