Not only in professional life, but Priyanka has also reversed tradition in her personal life too. Take, for instance, marrying a man ten years younger, and from a different culture altogether.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is here to slay and has always been. But her journey from Miss World to ruling the world has not been an easy one. She has strived but survived and thrived.

Priyanka Chopra might have moved across the globe, but in her heart, she is truly a desi girl. The diva has time and again proved that she is proud of what she is.

Priyanka, then at the age of 17, conquered the world with her beauty, grace and brains — the real epitome of a modern-day Indian woman.

Ever since she made her acting debut in 2003, with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, for which she won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award, Priyanka has only wowed us with her performances. Be it playing an autistic person in Barfi or portraying ace Indian boxer Mary Kom in her biopic, Priyanka has definitely left her mark in the industry. And to celebrate the desi girl’s birthday we have curated a list of Priyanka Chopra Movies, so get your popcorn ready!

Aitraaz

An Abbas-Mustaan film, Aitraaz was owned by Priyanka. She took the spotlight with her splendid performance as Sonia Roy. While the film revolves around the concept of sexual harassment at the workplace, the surprise factor was that Priyanka played the role of an aggressor. Her character wants it all — status, money and sexual gratification and is unapologetic about it. She viciously schemes and manipulates Raj (Akshay Kumar) to achieve her goals and demands a physical relationship. PeeCee made sure to perform her part to perfection, while captivating the audience with her dynamic screen presence.

Fashion

Fashion would not have been the same without Priyanka Chopra. Released in 2008 Fashion is considered as one of PeeCee’s most successful movies. She effortlessly transformed from a young innocent small-town girl to a top fashion model who pays a price to be a part of the glamorous world. Priyanka definitely impressed everyone with her dynamic screen presence in the film. No wonder she won both the Filmfare Best Actor Female and the National Award for her mind-blowing performance.

7 Khoon Maaf

7 Khoon Maaf, the masterpiece by Vishal Bhardwaj was based on Ruskin Bond’s short story ‘Susanna’s Seven Husbands’. And Priyanka left no stone unturned to crack the multi-layered character of the femme fatale ‘Susanna’. It gave her enough room to prove her acting capabilities and was one of the most experimental films of her career. Unfortunately, the film didn’t do well in the box-office collection, but it brought critical acclaim for the actor. She received her first Dadasaheb Phalke Award under the category of ‘memorable performance’ for 7 Khoon Maaf.

Dostana

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani the 2008 rom-com was a light-hearted film. The story revolves around two men Kunal (John Abraham) and Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan) who pretend to be a gay couple to be able to share an apartment with Neha (Priyanka Chopra), later both of them fall in love with her. The film had everything from a good storyline to glamour and amazing numbers. Dostana definitely gave us friendship goals and went on to have a good run at the box office by becoming the 8th highest-earning film that year.

Mary Kom

Priyanka’s performance in the biographical sports drama ‘Mary Kom’ directed by Omung Kumar was a surprise for everyone. The film projected the hurdles faced by the Indian Boxer ‘Mary Kom’ in her journey to live her passion for boxing. And to do justice to the character, she has undergone rigorous training and also learnt boxing in the process. The film won the Best Popular Film at the 62nd National Film Awards presented by then President Pranab Mukherjee.

Barfi!

Released in 2012, Anurag Basu’s Barfi is a masterpiece. Filled with emotions and love, the film revolves around Shruti (Ileana D’cruz) who loves Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor), a hearing and speech-impaired man, but marries someone else. Years later, she learns that he is in love with Jilmil (Priyanka Chopra), an autistic girl, and feels the need to rethink her own marriage. We can definitely say that Barfi was Priyanka’s best performance. From the screenplay to the songs everything in this film was perfect. It is hard to miss Priyanka in any scene as she stepped into the soul of the character with perfection and made everyone fall in love with the innocence of Jhilmil.

Bajirao Mastani

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani was a superhit. From the storyline, screenplay to the songs everything in this film was a treat to the eyes. Set in the 18th century the film is a love triangle period drama where Priyanka plays the role of Kashibai, the first wife of the great warrior Bajirao (Ranveer Singh). Bajirao falls in love with Mastani (Deepika Padukone) and Kashibai finds her marriage disintegrating. Feeling jilted, she unwittingly becomes a party to palace intrigue. Even though Priyanka was not the main lead she was definitely the talk of the town as she was praised for portraying her character with so much poise and dignity.

Dil Dhadakne Do

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, this multi starrer was loved by everyone. From the acting of the cast to the songs, everything in this film was top-notch. The story revolves around the members of the Mehra family who are quite sorted on the outside but a total mess on the inside. Priyanka’s character Ayesha is trapped in a dead marriage because of societal pressures and struggles to not fall in love with her first love again. PeeCee surely left many hearts racing with her top notch performance, showcasing the dilemma faced by girls these days and how they live under the pressure. Even with the film being a multi starrer Priyanka marked her presence in it.

The Sky Is Pink

Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink is centered around Aditi (Priyanka Chopra) and Niren (Farhan Akhtar) and how they centre their lives around their daughter Aisha who dies because of a genetical disorder. The film will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions. The Sky Is Pink gives us an important message to live life to the fullest and make memories even in the worst situations. The film celebrates lives well lived and this is what touched the audience.

The White Tiger

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ most recent outing in movies was The White Tiger, co-starring Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav.
