GUWAHATI: As Assam secondary education department has ordered all the private schools to waive off 50 per cent of their monthly fees for the month of April to provide relief to the parents and guardians, many schools of the state welcomed the move. The government also debarred the schools from salary cut of the staff and increase of school fees till the COVID-19 situation is over.

Along with other private schools across the state, Senior Secondary School, Holy Home, NPS International School and Pragjyotish High School in Guwahati have also welcomed the decision of the Assam Government.

“We heartily welcome the directives. We should all follow the directives at this hour of crisis. We have already paid the salary to our teaching and non-teaching staff,” said the principal of a Guwahati school.

“This is really a commendable move. I appreciate minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for such timely decision,” said the principal of another school in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, Blue Flowers School in Hailakandi has announced 100 per cent fee waiver for the students.

On Wednesday, Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced, “If any school is found to violate the norms, the state government will shut them down under the Disaster Management Act.”
