GUWAHATI, Dec 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying homage to the martyrs of the 2001 Parliament attack saying “their sacrifice will forever inspire the nation”.

“Paid homage to those martyred in the 2001 Parliament attack. Their sacrifice will forever inspire our nation. We remain eternally grateful for their courage and dedication,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on ‘X’.

Along with Prime Minister Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge and other political leaders paid floral tributes to the martyrs in the Parliament complex.

Nine people — six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel, and a gardener — had lost their lives while all five terrorists neutralized by security forces after the heavily-armed terrorists infiltrated the Parliament complex in a car with fake Home Ministry and Parliament stickers on Dec 13, 2001.
