GUWAHATI, Jan 17: President Droupadi Murmu today conferred the National Sports Awards 2024 at a function held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
While four champion sportspersons, including double Olympic-medallist shooter Manu Bhaker and teenage chess world champion D Gukesh, were conferred with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, 32 sportspersons were awarded with the Arjuna Award.
India’s men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and Paralympic gold-winning high jumper Praveen Kumar were also conferred with the Khel Ratna award by President Murmu.
Seventeen among the 32 sportspersons who received the Arjuna Award are para-athletes.
