President and secretary of Divyang Mancha Assam, accused of taking money promising jobs, arrested by police

GUWAHATI, Feb 10: Guwahati Police have arrested the president and secretary of a little-known organization named Divyang Mancha Assam for their alleged involvement in a cash-for-jobs scam.

Semim Ahmed and Nabajit Barman, secretary and president of Divyang Mancha Assam, were arrested from Boragaon locality of Guwahati Sunday night.

The arrest of the two leaders came after an audio clip, purportedly of Nabajit Barman, in which he was heard seeking money from physically-challenged candidates, promising them government jobs in the third and fourth grades under the ADRE in return.

Reports said several Divyang candidates had even paid money to the two arrested persons and, after sensing that they were being duped, filed a complaint at Pan Bazaar police station following which the arrests were made.
