Premier League: Arsenal go second after hammering West Ham 5-2; Liverpool face Man City in Super Sunday clash

GUWAHATI, Dec 1: Arsenal have moved to the second place in the points table after hammering West Ham United 5-2 with all seven goals scored in the first half of the match at the London Stadium.

Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring for the Gunners while Leandro Trossard, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz netted to put Arsenal 4-0 ahead inside 36 minutes.

Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson scored for West Ham, showing some fightback, Bukayo Saka added Arsenal’s fifth on the stroke of half-time to put them 5-2 ahead at the whistle.

Arsenal with 25 points from 13 matches are now six behind leaders Liverpool who face defending champions Manchester City at home tonight while West Ham remain in the 14th place.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Bournemouth thrashed Wolves 4-2 at the Molineux with Justin Kluivert making Premier League history with a hat-trick of penalties while Brentford humiliated Leicester City 4-1 at home.

Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest edged past Ipswich Town 1-0.

In the late night clash on Friday, Brighton were held 1-1 by Southampton.

In the other fixtures to be played today (Dec 1), Chelsea host Aston Villa, Fulham travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while Manchester United face Everton at Old Trafford.
