Protests continue in several parts of Assam over anomalies in the Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) recruitment test although the minister concerned, Naba Doley is sticking to his stand maintaining that the written tests to fill up over 900 vacancies were “free and fair”, and that there won’t be re-examination despite a clamour for holding the written tests once again.
“The recruitment tests were conducted in a free and fair manner and I congratulate department officials for this,” Naba Doley has said yesterday. And he is sticking to his stand claiming that no anomalies had taken place, turning a blind eye to accusations of even a paper leak before the recruitment tests were held.
Amid Naba Doley’s unapologetic stand, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal seemed not very happy with the recruitment test fiasco and ordered a probe, asking P&RD commissioner-secretary Dr JB Ekka to conduct an inquiry into allegations of question paper leaks and candidates brazenly resorting to use of mobile phones while writing the examinations.

Meanwhile, candidates who appeared in the recruitment test protested at various places demanding that fresh tests be conducted. Hundreds of candidates staged protests outside the Panchayat & Rural Development Directorate at Panjabari in Guwahati.

On the other hand Bloom Electronics Pvt. Ltd., the authorised firm that conducted the written test, also admitted to candidates using mobile phones and question paper leaked through WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
