GUWAHATI: Former Lok Sabha MP Rajen Gohain said that Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) may not give party ticket to former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta for Barhampur constituency. Gohain claimed that there is a clash between Mahanta and AGP leadership.
“Mahanta has represented this constituency for last 35 years. But he has never showed any positive attitude towards our workers. Therefore, they are disappointed,” the former union minister alleged.
He expressed his willingness to contest assembly polls from Barhampur as he claimed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has more strength in the constituency.
Gohain also predicted that newly-formed Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) will not win a single seat in the assembly elections which are scheduled to be held in 2021.
