The reduction in power tariff will benefit 68 lakh consumers, Chief Minister Dr Sarma announced
GUWAHATI, March 25: Power tariff in Assam will be slashed from April this year with Re 1/unit reduction in tariff for domestic and Jeevan Dhara consumers, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced through his social media handles on Tuesday (March 25).
Besides reduction in power tariff of domestic and Jeevan Dhara consumers, energy tariffs of agricultural, industrial and commercial consumers will also be slashed by 25 paise for every unit of electricity consumed.
The reduction in power tariff will benefit 68 lakh consumers and it will be reflected in the electricity bills of consumers from May, 2025, Chief Minister Dr Sarma announced through a social media creative along with the update.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma said the reduction will provide some much-needed relief to people, particularly to the poor and the middle class.
Incidentally, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog had announced in her State Budget about the proposed reduction and today’s announcement, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, indicates the fulfillment of the budgetary announcement.
