Policeman suspended for attending protest outside Hindu temple in Canada, 4 held for attacking devotees

GUWAHATI, Nov 5: A Canadian police officer has been suspended for participating in a pro-Khalistan protest outside the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, Canada, reports have said.

Harinder Sohi, an off-duty Peel Police Sergeant, was part of the Khalistani mob that attacked the Temple in Brampton.

On the other hand, four people have been arrested following the protests and the attack on the Temple.

Videos circulating on social media showed demonstrators holding banners in support of Khalistan, and then attacked devotees as they tried to storm the temple.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned “the deliberate attack” on the temple and added that he expected the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.

“I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. Equally appalling are the cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” Prime Minister Modi said in a statement on social media.
