Police recover pistol, Govt stickers and rubber stamps from conman Mridupaban’s Kahilipara residence

GUWAHATI: In a late-night operation, Assam Police on Saturday searched the house of one Mridupaban Neog who is said to be involved in a scam worth Rs. 30 lakh and found incriminating documents and other items. To his victims, Neog claimed that he was a high-ranking government of India official.

Mridupaban Neog is said to have taken money from one Imran in Nagaon for a vehicle. But Neog did not deliver the vehicle and kept the money. Imran got in touch with Nagaon Police and lodged an FIR. Based on Imran’s FIR the Nagaon Police reached Guwahati and along with the Guwahati Police went looking for Neog.

The police team consisting of Guwahati Police and Nagaon Police started the operation at around 2 AM. During the search, the police found a .32 pistol, 20 live rounds, gold jewelry worth lakhs, a large quantity of foreign liquor, many fake documents and stickers of various government departments and a logo of a media house.

Interestingly, all of Mridupaban Neog’s vehicles have Govt of India stickers pasted on them. Even his home has a Govt of India sticker on it.

Mridupaban somehow got the scent of the police operation and ran away before he could be apprehended.
