Police Raid Illegal Teer Gambling Den in Dhirenpara: In a strong move against illegal gambling, the police carried out a sudden raid on a Teer gambling den in Dhirenpara area of Guwahati. The operation, based on secret information, led to the arrest of five people and seizure of several items used in the gambling racket. The raid was carried out on Thursday under the leadership of ACP Azara.

The raid took place at Itabhatta in Dhirenpara under Fatasil Ambari Police Station. The police team arrived quietly and quickly took control of the area where the illegal Teer betting was taking place. According to police officials, the den was running without any legal permission and had become a hub for local gamblers.

Thanks to the timely information received by the police, they managed to catch five individuals who were actively involved in running the gambling business. All of them were arrested on the spot and taken to the police station for further questioning.

Here are the names and details of the five arrested persons:

  • 18 bundles of blank Teer ticket books
  • A commercial calculator
  • Kores carbon copy book
  • A stapler combined with a Flair SRX pen

All the seized items were taken as evidence and will be used during court proceedings.

Teer gambling, though common in some areas, is banned when conducted without proper permits. Police are urging people to stay away from such activities and report any suspicious operations in their neighbourhood.

Earlier in December 2024, a police team led by Azara ACP and the OC of Fatasil Ambari Police Station conducted a planned raid in GMC Colony after receiving secret information about illegal Teer gambling. The raid led to the arrest of five people—Bikash Kr Sah, Nirupam Mazumdar, Madhab Acharya, and two others named Md. Kuddus Ali from different areas. The police seized six mobile phones, 70 bundles of blank Teer tickets, Rs 24,340 in cash, four cardboards, a diary, a notebook, a seal, and a black handbag. All these were used in the gambling activity. Legal action has been taken against them.

Now again, this raid has once again shown that the police are serious about putting an end to illegal activities in Guwahati. The people of Dhirenpara are now hopeful that more such actions will help bring peace and safety to the area. The arrested individuals will now face the law, and the investigation will reveal if more people are involved in this gambling network.
