PM Narendra Modi always with people of Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam Health Finance, Health and Education Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam has been able to fight COVID-19 and become one of the five strongest states in the country.

Speaking at the ‘Asom Mala’ program in Dhekiajuli of Sonitpur in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, Dr. Sarma lauded Prime Minister Modi and said that in the year 2020 the entire world suffered from the pandemic. And our Prime Minister has taken the lead not only in India but all over the world in the fight against the pandemic.

Dr. Sarma also added, “In spite of his busy schedule and fight against the COVID-19 our PM has always been with the people of Assam. At that time, the centre provided 947 ventilators, 1,300 oxygen concentrators, 3,541 oxygen cylinders, 900,000 masks, 200,000 PPE kits and Rs 250 crore for the people of Assam. Our PM brought vaccines to India to fight COVID-19. By proving the term “Atmanirbhar Bharat” in the world arena, PM Modi has started providing COVID-19 vaccine not only in India but to countries of the world also.”

As many as 6 lakh doses of vaccine have been sent to Assam and 87,500 health workers have already been vaccinated.

In his address, Dr. Sarma said that when the people of Assam were battling the COVID epidemic, PM Modi had supplied free rice to 20.5 million people. He supplied 9 lakh 37 thousand metric tons of rice for the people of Assam. A total of Rs 1,430 crore was deposited in 95, 34,385 bank accounts of the poor people of Assam. In the same way, PM Modi has also provided Rs 392 crore to 18, 61, 6715 farmers through the Prime Minister’s Kisan Yojana.

Speaking about the occasion, Dr. Sarma said, “It is a moment of pride for the people of Assam.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in the state and laid the foundation stone of medical colleges to be built at a cost of Rs 564 crore and Rs 557 crore at Bishwanath Chariali and Charaideo. PM Modi has also allocated Rs 180 crore for each medical college to upgrade the state’s health sector to a more advanced level.”

“In coming July, people won’t have to go to Delhi for advanced treatment as AIIMS will be functional for the people of Assam”, added Dr. Sarma.
