PM Modi Talks to Elon Musk about Technology and Innovations Collaboration

PUBLISHED:

PM Modi Talks to Elon Musk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again talked with Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk, and this time, it’s all about the future. Their phone conversation, held recently, was a continuation of their earlier meeting in Washington DC. PM Modi shared that they spoke about key areas like technology, innovation, space, and artificial intelligence—sectors that are shaping the world’s future.

The Indian PM took to social media platform X to share, “Spoke to Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year.” He added, “We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”

This interaction is grabbing headlines because both Tesla and Starlink (also owned by Musk) are actively looking at opportunities in India. Tesla is in talks to set up an electric vehicle manufacturing unit in the country. Meanwhile, Starlink is working closely with Indian telecom giants like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel to bring satellite internet services to Indian households.

The timing of this conversation is also significant. Starlink’s entry is still pending final security clearance from the Indian government, and spectrum rules for satellite internet services are yet to be finalised. While rivals like Bharti Group’s OneWeb and Jio Satellite Communications already have licenses, they’re still waiting to begin operations. Starlink, with its over 6,750 satellites in space, has a clear edge and could shake up the Indian satellite internet space once cleared.

Their earlier meeting in February was also memorable, as PM Modi presented Elon Musk’s children with Indian books like “The Crescent Moon” by Rabindranath Tagore and “Panchatantra.” Photos shared by Modi showed the children reading the books, reflecting a friendly and thoughtful gesture from India’s PM.

The Modi-Musk bond reflects India’s growing push to strengthen international ties in sectors like EVs, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure. As talks between India and the US continue for a new trade deal expected by this fall, such high-profile interactions can play a big role in shaping partnerships for a tech-driven tomorrow.

With Musk’s companies showing deep interest in India’s fast-growing market, the future of innovation, mobility, and space exploration in India looks brighter than ever.
