PM Modi fulfills promise, eats ice-cream with Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist PV Sindhu

Guwahati: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted India’s entire contingent which went to Tokyo Olympics 2020 by inviting them as special guests on August 15 at the Red Fort.

Before the contingent left for Tokyo, Modi had also interacted with the Indian athletes and motivated them to give their best at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

During the interaction, Modi had promised star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu that he will have ice cream with her once she returns from Tokyo.

And the promise was fulfilled as an image surfaced online where the PM was seen having ice cream with Sindhu – who bagged a bronze medal at Tokyo as India produced its best-ever show at an Olympic event.

With her bronze medal in Tokyo, Sindhu has become India’s first female athlete to win two medals at the showpiece event.

She defeated China’s He Bing Jiao in the bronze medal match at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sindhu had won her first Olympic medal at Rio Olympics 2016 – where she bagged a historic silver medal.
