With only three days left before people bid farewell to 2018 and welcome 2019, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has issued some guidelines to hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants holding New Year’s Eve parties. If you are a party freak and would like to celebrate the dawn of a new year, you will find a couple of bar-cum-restaurant open a little late then other days with administration officials permitting 18 bar-cum-restaurants to close late on the intervening night of Dec 31 and Jan 1.
Thirty-five other big hotels have also been given permission for late closing but told to follow guidelines that include permission to serve liquor only till midnight.
“A few guidelines have been issued to hotels, bars and restaurants organizing New Year’s Eve parties. Eighteen bar-cum-restaurants have been given permission for one-day late closing on the intervening night of Dec 31 and Jan 1 along with 35 other big hotels but they have been told to follow guidelines that include permission to serve liquor only till midnight,” Debajit Nath, Supdt. of Excise, Kamrup, told News Live.

Kamrup (Metro) district administration has also banned the use of loud music besides asking people to desist from consuming alcohol at public places that will otherwise attract a penalty of Rs 5,000.
Four patrolling teams will keep a close vigil as to whether the directives have been followed. Bars and pubs, restaurants and hotels have also been asked to ensure that they are CCTV monitored and to deploy adequate number of private security guards, including lady bouncers in pubs and bars, to ensure law and order is maintained at all cost.
