PK Dutta handed over to West Bengal Police

GUWAHATI: Former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Prasanta Kumar Dutta who was detained at the Indo-Nepal border in the Assam Police sub-inspector recruitment exam paper leak case has been handed over to the West Bengal Police.

“The prime accused in the SI Exam paper leak case, P.K. Dutta has been detained at the Indo-Nepal Border on the strength of LOC issued by CID, Assam, and handed over to the West Bengal Police.

Assam Police would take him in custody in due course and bring him to Assam,” Assam Police stated in a social media post.

Dutta is being brought to Assam and could reach Guwahati by tonight.

Former Assam DIG P.K Dutta who is said to be the main mastermind in the leakage of the question paper was on the run.

After huge public outcry, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a swift investigation as a result of which PK Dutta has been finally arrested in Nepal.

The Assam Police investigating team besides raiding Dutta’s residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari also raided his many hotels and properties in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.

Another main accused Former BJP leader Diban Deka surrendered before the Police and is being interrogated at the Assam Police SB Branch in Guwahati.

The Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination had to be canceled after the alleged leak of the question paper on social media.
