Celebrations and festivities marked the dawn of a New Year as people across the globe welcomed 2019 as dazzling fireworks lit the midnight sky at many places across the world.
People in Assam also ringed in the New Year, hoping that 2019 would bring joy and happiness, peace, prosperity and success to their lives along with people of the State and elsewhere.
People wished their family members, friends and near and dear ones after the clock struck twelve on New Year’s Eve night, wishing that the New Year brings the best to the lives of everyone.
Temples, the Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Gardens in Guwahati and other public attractions were chock-a-block with people. People visited temples and sought the Almighty’s blessings so that the New Year passes peacefull and brings happiness, positivity and prosperity to their lives.
“I prayed for my family, relatives and friends, seeking God’s blessings so that the year passes peacefully. I also hope that peace and amity prevails across Assam and elsewhere,” Karabi Deka, a college student of Guwahati, said.
The Guwahati State Zoo also witnessed a rush of visitors on the first day of the year today.
“I have come with my wife and little girl to the zoo. It’s a nice way of spending the first day of the year. Moreover, my girl who is only 3 years old, loves to see the animals here,” Rakhal Das, who lives in Panjabari locality of Guwahati, told News Live.
