GUWAHATI: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) will contest in 40 seats in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls. This was announced by new president of UPPL, Pramod Boro.

The former ABSU president is busy with daily meetings garnering support for the party. During a meeting at Udalguri on Thursday, Pramod Boro said that there will be no pre-poll alliance with any party for the BTC polls.

Pramod Boro further said that the BPF-BJP alliance won’t affect the performance of the UPPL as the people are with his party. Taking potshot at Bodoland People’s Front chief Hagrama Mohilary the UPPL president said, “People are getting united against Hagrama’s 17-year misrule. People will vote for us to bring the change.”

“Hagrama has a lot of cash and he can fight the BTC election with this money power. We have the people with us and will contest this election taking the people along with us,” said Pramod Boro.

The BTC election dates are yet to be announced but political debates and mobilization of party workers has started in the Bodoland Territorial Region. The recent signing of the Bodo Peace Accord on 27th January has brought fresh political winds to BTR areas.
