GUWAHATI: Hirakjyoti Baruah, a candidate for the Sub-Inspector (SI) post in Assam Police who is an accused in the question paper leak case confessed that he had paid Rs. 5 lakh as bribe for the job.
Hirak who was arrested by CID revealed in the interrogation that he had circulated the question papers through WhatsApp. The youth paid the money through one of his relatives to the former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police.
Police arrested Hirak on Monday near Kherani while he was on run from Karbi Anglong to Nagaon.
Following Hirakjyoti Baruah’s confession, CID and Crime Branch raided the Hengerabari residence of PK Dutta in Guwahati and recovered his admit card.
