GUWAHATI: BJP candidate and four-time MLA Padma Hazarika has won Sootea seat with a margin of 24,155 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Praneswar Basumatary of Congress.
Hazarika was first elected to the assembly from Sootea in 1996. He won continuously in 2006, 2011 and 2016.
