Operation Sindoor: Nine terror bases of terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir were flattened in the attacks
As part of Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces launched coordinated aerial strikes at nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday, avenging the Pahalgam killings with the precision strikes killing at least 70 terrorists.
The well-coordinated attacks targeted terrorist bases, including Muridke and Bahawalpur which are strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The operation was a response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, 25 of them Hindu tourists.
What are the 9 targets attacked by Indian forces?
Indian Armed forces carried out 24 precision missile strikes at the nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), which are the strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The Government of India, in a press briefing by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri along with two women officers Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, briefed the nation on the attacks on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
- Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – A known stronghold of Pakistani terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed where the head office of Jaish was located. It served as the centre of recruitment, training and indoctrination.
- Markaz Taiba in Muridke – A training centre for terrorists where Mumbai 2008 attacker Ajmal Kasab and 26/11 terror plotter David Headley were trained.
- Sawai Nala camp in Muzaffarabad – It was located 30 km inside Pakistan and was one of the training camps of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
- Syedna Bilal camp in POK – The terror base was a staging area of Jaish-e-Mohammed and a centre for arms training and storage.
- Gulpur camp in Kotli – Located 30 km from the LoC, it was a base of the LeT. Terrorists involved in the April 20, 2023 attack in Poonch and June 9, 2024 attack on pilgrims were trained here.
- Barnala camp in Bhimber – Located 9 km from the LoC, it was also the centre for handling arms and ammunition.
- Kotli Abbas – It was located 13 km from the LoC and was a training centre for terrorists.
- Sarjal camp in Sialkot – LOcated 6 km from the international border, it was another terrorist base and training centre. Terrorists involved in the killing of four soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir in March this year were trained here.
- Mehmoona Joya camp in Sialkot – It is believed to be a stronghold of terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen. It was at this camp from where the attack on Pathankot Airbase was planned and directed.

Meanwhile, during the press briefing, Col Sofiya Qureshi presented videos of destruction of terror camps.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, on the other hand, said all nine terror sites were successfully destroyed, saying that the locations were selected so that there was no damage to civilians and their infrastructures.
“Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed… The locations were so selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructures and loss of any civilian lives”, Wing Commander Singh said.
