GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has intensified its organizational efforts to achieve the 100+ seats target in the forthcoming Assembly elections. As part of this initiative, the party is reviewing the work of all party ministers and legislators. According to BJP national general secretary and state BJP co-ordinating committee member Dilip Kumar Saikia, nomination will be given to only those (including ministers and MLAs) who are most likely to win.

Ministers and legislators who are less likely to win will have their party tickets cut. The work of each incumbent minister-MLA is already under review.  According to Dilip Saikia, chances of winning will be analyzed before the party ticket is issued to anyone.

One thing is clear from the remarks made by Saikia, that at least those ministers-legislators who are less likely to win the party review will be deprived of party tickets this time.

On the other hand, in the run-up to the forthcoming Assembly elections, many new faces will get party tickets, added Saikia.

Speaking about the alliance between BJP and BPF, the party general secretary made it clear that there would be no alliance with the Hagrama Mohilary -led BPF party, adding that there was already an alliance with the UPPL party.

The BJP will form an alliance with the UPPL and the Gana Suraksha Party in the 12 assembly constituencies that come under the Bodoland Territorial Council.

Saikia also described the Asom Gana Parishad, AGP as a “reliable ally” and BJP will continue this alliance.

In the same way, the alliance with the Gana Shakti, the Rabha Hansong Joutha Mancha will continue.  And apart from this, the BJP will enter the electoral fray through alliances with some other small-scale political parties, added the BJP national general secretary.

On the other hand, BJP state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ motto is aimed at promoting progress and development across the country.

And in order to make a mark of the motto about 4,500 men and women from the minority community will join the BJP at a minority gathering at Sarbhog said, Dass

The party has also decided to hold minority rallies in minority constituencies in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections. Each booth of the minority community has more than 20 members. According to President Ranjeet Dass, the party has proposed to field 10 candidates of minority origin in the forthcoming elections.
