One new COVID-19 case in Mizoram, tally rises to 4,381

Aizawl: Mizoram on Saturday reported a single COVID-19 case as a 45-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) jawan tested positive for the infection, pushing the state’s tally to 4,381, an official said.

The patient has come from Uttar Pradesh and he is asymptomatic.

Mizoram now has 27 active COVID-19 cases, while 4,345 people have recovered from the virus. The coronavirus recovery rate in the state is 99.18 per cent, the official said.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state is nine.

Altogether, 2,14,309 samples, including 1,577 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till date.

Meanwhile, state Immunisation Officer Dr Lalzawmi said 511 beneficiaries were given COVID-19 vaccine on Friday.

The Immunisation officer said so far 10,555 healthcare workers have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the ongoing vaccination drive in the state. PTI
