GUWAHATI, Oct 6: Durga Puja festivities have picked up across Assam with devotees offering their prayers to Goddess Durga on Maha Ashtami. Along with commoners, politicians were also seen making a beeline to pandals as they offered their obeisance to Maa Durga.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal offered prayers at the 500-year-old Durga Puja at Bokul Tea Estate on the outskirts of Dibrugarh town this morning.

Later in the evening, he also visited the Bishnupur Durga Puja pandal where he offered prayers to Goddess Durga.
On the other hand, Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma offered prayers at various puja pandals in Silchar.
