In a landmark judgement, the CBI Special Court, Guwahati, convicted prime accused Ranjan Daimary, former chairman of the NDFB faction he led, along with 13 other accused in the Oct 30, 2008, serial blasts case. The CBI Special Court held Daimary and other 13 accused guilty in the serial blasts that killed nearly 90 people besides injuring and maiming over 800 others.

Apart from Daimary, the other accused convicted by court are George Boro, Prabhat Boro, Ajay Basumatary, Jayanti Brahma, Raju Sarkar, Khargeshwar Basumatary, B Thorai, Ansai Boro, Lok Basumatary, Mathuram Brahma, Mridul Goyary, Nilim Daimary and Indra Brahma.
Rajen Goyari, one of the arrested accused, was acquitted, due to lack of proof.
Ranjan Daimary, who had been out of prison on bail since 2013, was sent to prison after his bail plea was turned down by court.
The quantum of punishment will be given on Jan 30.
Meanwhile, people have welcomed the landmark judgement with family members and relatives of the blast victims demanding capital punishment for the accused.
