Now, Himanta Biswa Sarma slams Prafulla Mahanta

PUBLISHED:

Assam Finance, Health and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma continued his attack on the AGP, the BJP’s alliance partners in Dispur, as he singled out former two-time chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, terming him ungrateful. Sarma who was addressing a massive election rally at Barhampur, Mahanta’s home constituency, slammed the six-term MLA for failing to usher in development in his constituency.

“I think it’s for the patience of the people of Barhampur constituency that Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has been elected for six terms to the Assam Assembly. Had he contested from our areas, he couldn’t even have won a panchayat election,” Sarma said.

“BJP activists had worked hard to ensure Mahanta’s victory in the last assembly elections. But he didn’t express his gratitude to our party activists, ever. On the contrary, right from the day he won, he has been criticizing our government even though his party, the AGP, is our alliance partner,” he added.

Sarma also slammed other party leaders, including party president Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta who are also ministers of the Sarbananda Sonowal government, claiming that had the BJP not supported them they couldn’t have emerged victorious in the elections and become ministers.

Incidentally, both Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Sonowal have been going hammer and tongs on the AGP besides exuding confidence that the BJP will put up a good show in the upcoming two-phase panchayat elections in the State on Dec 5 & 9.

The Finance, Health and PWD minister also criticized the Congress and the AIUDF, terming them messiahs of illegal Bangladeshi migrants as he continued his whirlwind campaigning, addressing campaign rallies for party candidates at Jakhalabandha and Rani today (Dec 3).
