Notices to Google, other online platforms after Aaradhya Bachchan moves court over ‘misleading info’ about her

GUWAHATI, Feb 5: The Delhi High Court has issued notices to Google and other online platforms in response to a plea by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter Aaradhya seeking removal of “misleading content” about her health on online platforms, including Google.

Legal notices have been sent to Google and a few other online platforms while the court fixed March 17 as the next date of hearing in the case.

In April 2023, the Delhi High Court had ordered Google to remove videos that falsely claimed that Aaradhya was critically ill; some even going to the extent that she was “no more”.

The court told Google to share with it details as to who had uploaded such content and to “quickly remove” such misleading videos.

The videos violated the minor’s privacy and the sole purpose was to “create shock and gain overnight popularity” besides making economic profits from them, the court stated.
