Northeastern States on JMB radar, warn central agencies: Reports

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI, Nov 8: Central agencies have issued stern warnings to northeastern States following heightened activities of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the neighbouring country, reports have said.

Alerts, the reports said, have been issued to all the Northeastern States, particularly to Assam and Tripura, while intelligence and other agencies have increased surveillance in areas along the Bangladesh border and other regions with higher threat perception.

Assam Police and the BSF, meanwhile, have been increasing vigil along Assam’s border with the neighbouring country and have foiled numerous attempts by Bangladeshi nationals, most of them Rohingiya Muslims, to cross over to Assam and the other Northeastern States.
