Northeast Motocross Challenge: Guwahati boy Indrajeet Kalita bags first prize in Novice category

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Guwahati boy Indrajeet Kalita won the first position in the Novice Category of Northeast Motocross Challenge organized by Meghalaya Blackwood Motorsports Society(M.B.M.S). The event concluded on Saturday(27 March) in Shillong.

Kalita is a student and a professional motocross racer who has represented Assam in many events. He rides in Scooter as well as the Bike category.

Speaking to News Live, Kalita said,” I am very happy after winning in the Novice category of Northeast Motocross Challenge.”

“People often mistake street racing with track racing. We have a track in North Guwahati where I practice every Sunday. I have a dream to represent my state in National and International events. Motocross is an emerging sport and many people don’t understand it. Anyone can ride bikes, but riding on a track with so many hurdles needs real practice. It is not as easy as it seems. This sport is being loved by the youngsters and instead of riding roughly in the city streets, one can showcase their talent in the track following all safety norms like wearing helmets, racing shoes, chest guards, jackets, and gloves,” Kalita added.

Around 60 riders battled against each other in different categories. Riders from across the Northeast, including Assam, Meghalaya, took part in the motocross event.

It is to be mentioned that Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. The sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom.
