Hima Das named Assam’s sports ambassador

The Assam cabinet on Tuesday named Assam Express Hima Das as the brand ambassador of sports in Assam. The cabinet also passed the Parents Responsibility and Norms for Accountability and Monitoring (PRANAM) Bill of Assam Employees on the same cabinet.

It should be noted that Hima Das became the first Indian woman to win gold at IAAF World U-20 Championship, claiming the top spot in the women’s 400m final race in Tampere, Finland. On the other hand, the PRANAM bill, makes it mandatory for the Assam government employees o look after their aged and dependent parent(s) and physically challenged sibling(s), if any, who do not have their own source of income.

On the other hand, the Assam cabinet further increased the upper age limit of OBC/MOBC candidate to apply in Assam government jobs to 47-year. Besides, the cabinet also approved Rs. 487 crore to upgrade the infrastructure of schools under ‘Gunotsav’.

For follow-up of investment opportunities and industrial development, Cabinet approved establishment of ‘Invest Assam’, a dedicated cell under the Industry department.

The Cabinet assured that no persons left out from the NRC will be sent to detention camps. All opportunities will be provided to them to submit claims and objections.

Further, it also approved a new wildlife division for better administration and management of the Sixth Addition of Kaziranga National Park.
