Eid-al-Adha celebrated in Assam

Eid-al-Adha, also known as Bakri Eid, is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Assam along with the rest of the country and other parts of the globe today (Aug 22).

Islam faithful offered Eid prayers at Eidgahs and mosques across the State with people praying for global peace and well-being of their families and their near and dear ones. People greeted each other after the morning namaz as thousands congregated for the morning prayers on the holy occasion.

Animal sacrifices or ‘Qurbani’ were also made on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha.

Women, meanwhile, made lip-smacking delicacies as people visited their friends and relatives on the occasion of Eid.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son in obedience of the Almighty’s command.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma greeted the people on Eid-ul-Azha.
