AGP forms 9-member committee to finalise alliance

PUBLISHED:

The regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today (Feb 20) formed a nine-member Election Strategy committee to finalise with whom the party will tie-up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The decision was taken in a meeting of the party’s executive committee that met at party headquarters Ambari.

The committee will formulate the party’s strategy for the polls and decide whether it will strike a pre-poll alliance with the BJP with which it had severed ties on Jan 8 over the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill or will it tie-up with the Congress.

The nine-member committee will be headed by party president Atul Bora with party leaders Keshab Mahanta, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Brindaban Goswami, Phani Bhushan Choudhury, Kamala Kalita, Birendra Prashad Baishya, Ramendra Narayan Kalita (convenor) and Pradip Hazarika as members.
