GUWAHATI: Though the number of COVID-19 positive cases has been rapidly increasing, some citizens in Guwahati are still paying no heed to the precautionary measures. People in large number have been thronging at various street markets in the city with no regard for social distancing.
Many people are seen in Guwahati without wearing masks though the government making it mandatory for all at public places. Despite the surge of COVID-19 cases, some residents of the city have been spitting here and there in public.
Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has already cautioned that situation in Guwahati has been turning grave with the detection of several COVID-19 cases with no travel history.
He also indicated another phase of lockdown in Guwahati if the number of cases spikes.
