GUWAHATI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and NEDA Convener Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in Upper Assam there is no factor for BJP this time in the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections. Speaking to reporters in Naharkatia Dr. Sarma said, “There is no goalkeeper here, so BJP can give as many goals. This is an election without a goalkeeper. If someone can’t plant goals it is the player’s fault. The people have blessed us with their hearts to plant the goals.”

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that the newly-formed Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad will help the BJP in Upper Assam. “I welcome young blood to politics. But the election is a different matter. We can’t leave Assam for agitations or burning of tyres or burning of Sankardev Kalakshetra. The people of Assam will vote for peace, security and development. I strongly believe that the people of Assam will not vote for those forces that stop industries from entering Assam, help in unemployment, disturb businesses and the economy pushing us to the dark past of insecurities and uncertainties.”

“I welcome Lurinjyoti and Akhil Gogoi’s participation in democracy’s most important exercise. But I don’t think they have any chance of winning in this election,” stated Dr. Sarma.
