Guwahati: “We have arrived in a crisis situation. There will be no Bihu festivity this time,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Assam Legislative Assembly today while deliberating on the situation out of Coronavirus outbreak.
Explaining the problems which may arise out of long-term lockdown, Dr. Sarma said, “There will be no Bihu this year. So the artistes will face the problems. Tourism at Kaziranga has been completely closed, the people associated with the tourism are facing unbearable hurdles.”
Minister Sarma also stated that harrowing days would come if science can’t produce medicine or vaccine against Coronavirus.
However, he briefed the preparedness of the state government to fight against the deadly disease despite limited resources compared to the many first world countries which are grappling with Coronavirus outbreak.
