No ban on sale of pig fodder, clarifies Minister Atul Bora

GUWAHATI: Assam Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora has clarified that no ban on selling of pig fodder has been imposed in the state. Taking to Facebook, Minister Bora assured the pig farmers that no such ban has been imposed.

“A large number of pigs died in some areas of Assam due to unknown disease. There has been confusion that a ban on sale of pig fodder has been imposed in the state. Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of the Government of Assam clarified that no such ban on the sale of fodder has been issued,” Bora stated in a Facebook post from his official account.

Earlier on Sunday, addressing a press meet in Guwahati minister Bora said, “There has been 1,964 deaths of pigs in Assam. We have sent samples to Bhopal for necessary tests. As a precautionary measure, we have banned sale of pigs and pork in the State with immediate effect.”
