GUWAHATI, Aug 9: In a day of fast-paced political developments in Bihar, Nitish Kumar resigned as chief minister of the State after pulling out of NDA and is all set to realign with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
After tendering his resignation as Bihar Chief Minister and handing over a letter of support from 160 MLAs to Governor Phagu Chauhan, the JD(U) supremo arrived at the residence of RJD leader Rabri Devi in Patna to chalk out the party’s future course of action.
The meeting of JD(U) MPs and MLAs was held at Kumar’s official residence. On the other hand, another meeting of RJD legislators was convened by party leader Tejashwi Yadav at his mother’s residence. While Nitish Kumar, who left the BJP for the second time in eight years, is likely to be elected leader of the Mahagathbandhan, Tejashwi Yadav is likely to become deputy Chief Minister again.
