NGO feeds stray animals at Abhayapuri

GUWAHATI: ‘Action for Animals’ NGO organised a ‘Lockdown Feeding Program’ for stray animals at Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon district on Friday. The NGO provided cooked food to 30-35 stray dogs in the town.

North Salmara sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Hemen Das also joined hands with the NGO workers to feed the animals.

“This feeding activity will be continued till the end of lockdown. Last year throughout the lockdown, members of AFA provided food to the strays of Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon, Goalpara and Kokrajhar area,” said the organisation in a statement.

‘Action for Animals’ is a Bongaigaon-based NGO that primarily deals with rescue and treatment of sick stray animals, promotion of animal welfare and prevention of cruelty to animals.

“As of now, we have rescued and treated more than 120 stray dogs, 10 cows along with a few cats and goats. We have set up our shelter home at Dhaligaon near BGR township,” the statement read.
