NF Railway RPF continues crackdown on touts, 4 held in Dec’24; tickets worth Rs 1.15 lakh seized

GUWAHATI, Jan 22: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) conducted different checks and drives over the zone and apprehended 4 touts during last month for illegal sale of railway tickets. In the month of December 2024, RPF of NF Railway recovered 45 railway tickets worth above Rs 1.15 lakhs from multiple locations during the drives, a release issued by NF Railway CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated.

The apprehended touts were prosecuted under the relevant section of the Railways Act.

In a recent incident on December, 22 last year, RPF CIB team of Katihar and RPF team of Purnea jointly conducted a raid and search operation at ‘Galib Computers’ located at Puranganj, Bihar. During the raid the team recovered 20 E-Tickets (1 Live & 19 used) worth around Rs 47,928 and apprehended one tout in this connection.

A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at RPF post Purnea for further course of action.

In another drive on December 7, 2024, the CIB team of RPF/Lumding along with RPF team of New Haflong apprehended one tout and recovered 1 railway ticket worth around Rs 2530. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at RPF post of New Haflong for further course of action.

RPF of NF Railway has been keeping a close vigil of unauthorized & illegal procurement of railway tickets. NF Railway authority would like to request all passengers to undertake their journey with proper tickets only to avoid problems during train travel, the release stated.
