GUWAHATI: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi claimed that the yet to be born political party under the aegis of AASU would form the government in 2021.
“It is 100 per cent sure that the new party will form the government alone. I am hopeful that the new political party will be able to form the government single-handedly,” the AASU leader said.
Earlier, former chief minister Tarun Gogoi opined that no party can form the government single-handedly in 2021 assembly elections in Assam. However, the AASU general secretary termed the former CM’s remark as hypothetical.
Lurinjyotyi Gogoi also claimed that the new political party will be an alternative to Congress, BJP, AIUDF and AGP.
“It will be a collective effort to form a regional political force,” Gogoi said.
Reacting to the possible Congress-AIUDF alliance in 2021 assembly elections, the AASU general secretary said, “As the general secretary of the All Assam Students’ Union, I should not comment on them. But the new political party should keep in mind that they do not mingle with communal and nationalist forces.”
