GUWAHATI: The Assam Government is likely to release the new COVID19 SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) on Thursday, stated health minister Keshab Mahanta.
Talking to reporters in Dispur, Mahanta said that the new SOP will hopefully come on Thursday after the chief minister’s approval. “We have provided all the data from the health department to the CM,” said Mahanta.
The chief minister will decide the curfew regulation, said the health minister.
On the progress of COVID19 vaccination, Keshab Mahanta informed that the drive is being conducted in all remote and interior places of Assam, including char areas (riverine areas).
“Health workers are visiting these places to vaccinate people against COVID19. They are doing a very good job and we are seeing the results,” said the health minister.
The minister also informed that seven districts that were declared full containment zones are showing some improvement. The situation is under control in these districts.
The reporters questioned the health minister on the state government’s preparedness for the third wave of COVID19. The minister assured that Assam was ready to face the third wave with full preparedness.
“We are completely ready for the third wave of COVID19. Pediatric ICUs (PICU) have been made ready at the medical colleges and work is in progress to build PICUs in all government hospitals,” said Keshab Mahanta.
