Nephew Rupak Axom missing, not dead: Paresh Baruah

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah has denied reports of his nephew Munna Baruah’s death.

In a telephonic conversation with News Live chief managing editor, Syed Zarir Hussain, ULFA-I chief claimed that Munna Baruah aka Rupak Axom is still missing.

Denying all media reports Paresh Baruah said, “Munna Axom has been missing in the dense forest of Myanmar since 29 October. He is suffering from schizophrenia. We have been searching him for seven days now.”

Munna (26) hails from the Jerai village of Chabua in Dibrugarh district. His father, Bimal Baruah is Paresh Baruah’s elder brother. He was serving as a junior engineer and was doing his apprenticeship at the Digboi Refinery before joining the outfit on November 2018.

Incidentally, Munna went missing for a few days in 2018 from Digboi and did not report to the IOC (AOD) office where he worked as a junior engineer. After which, family members had lodged two complaints with the police in Digboi and Chabua. Later, the police clarified that Munna fled to join the rebel outfit his uncle Paresh Barua heads.
