NEEPCO release water from Doyang dam again

PUBLISHED:

Many villages in Golaghat district were inundated after the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) released water from its dam at the Doyang hydropower project located at Wokha district in Nagaland.

NEEPCO authorities released water at 5am today (Aug 27) from four radial gates leading to an increase in water-level of the Doyang and Dhansiri rivers. However, the water level has not crossed the danger mark.

Meanwhile, Golaghat district administration has issued an alert after NEEPCO released water from the Doyang dam asking people not to venture near the Dhansiri and Doyang rivers and banning fishing activities.

The corporation had also released water from its Doyang Hydro Power project in July after the water level of the reservoir increased and neared the spilling level leading to massive flooding in Golaghat district.
