NDA to trounce INDI Alliance, win over 350 seats, predict exit polls

PUBLISHED:

The BJP-led NDA has been projected to win a third term in office with an even better margin as exit polls pointed to the NDA sweeping the elections and winning the hustings with a margin of more than 350 seats

As the exit polls numbers trickle in, Republic TV P-MARQ and Republic TV-MATRICE are predicting a return of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, winning over 350 seats, with the Opposition’s INDIA bloc managing somewhere between 125 and 150.

According to India News D-Dynamic, Jan Ki Baat, News Nation has also predicted a clean sweep for the Modi-led NDA government.

Most of the pollsters have predicted a comfortable win for the BJP-led NDA, giving Prime Minister Narendra Modi a third successive term.

The exit polls have also predicted NDA dominance in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Left-led alliance’s rout in Kerala. In Bengal, the exit polls predicted a better performance for the BJP than it did the last time (22). At least three exit polls have said that the BJP will now be the single-largest party in Bengal in terms of Lok Sabha seats.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections spanned over seven phases starting April 19, wrapped today after the voters in 57 constituencies across eight states and Union territories cast their votes. Polling for the remaining 42 assembly constituencies of Odisha is also being held today. The Election Commission will count the votes on June 4.

In the 2019 polls, BJP romped home with 303 seats and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) pushed the number to 352. The Congress secured 52 seats and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) totalled 91.

The BJP this time has set a target of 370 seats and with help from its allies aims to go past the 400 mark. There are 543 seats in the Lower House of Parliament and the majority mark is 272.

Exit polls are surveys conducted with voters immediately after they leave polling stations. These polls aim to predict the outcome of an election before official results are available.
