National Girl Child Day: Haridwar teen Shrishti Goswami to become Uttarakhand CM for one day today

Haridwar: To mark the National Girl Child Day, Haridwar teenager Srishti Goswami will take charge as the chief minister of Uttarakhand for one day on Sunday. She will take part in the child assembly session in Dehradun.

Goswami, a student of BSc Agriculture, lives in Daulatpur village of the district. Her father runs a small shop in the village and her mother is an Anganwadi worker. The 19-year-old had in 2018 become the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bal Vidhan Sabha.

In 2019, Goswami went to Thailand to take part in Girls’ International Leadership.

“Srishti is a brilliant child. She wants to work for the upliftment of girl students everywhere. She is also part of a social organisation that motivates the girls towards getting an education,” her father Praveen Puri told TOI.

The one-day chief minister will administer from Gairsain, the summer capital of the state, and will review various schemes run by the state government that include Atal Ayushman Scheme, Smart City project, Homestay Scheme by the tourism department, and other development projects.

Speaking about the opportunity to become the one-day Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Goswami said she was so overwhelmed and will do her best to prove that youth can in administration while working for people’s welfare.

“I still cannot believe if this is true. I am so overwhelmed. But at the same time, I will do my best to prove that youth can excel in administration while working for people’s welfare,” she said.

The authorities will be giving Goswami a detailed presentation on the various departments before she takes over the Chief Minister Office. The Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission has also written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the hill state in this regard.

“The arrangements regarding this have already been made in the state assembly building in Gairsain. Srishti has been working with us for a while now and we are well aware of her capabilities,” Usha Negi, the Chairperson of the Commission said in a statement.
